Airbnb is a community-based online platform for listing and renting local homes. It connects hosts and travellers and facilitates the process of renting without owning any rooms itself. Moreover it cultivates a sharing-economy by allowing property owners to rent out private flats. Since its founding in August 2008 the company has been through sixteen rounds of funding with Wall St taking a keen interest. Major investors include JP Morgan Chase, Dragoneer, Nomura and Charterhouse Private Equity, This is probably the most eagerly awaited IPO since Alibaba.com went public in 2014.

 

Rumours are circulating that Airbnb Inc. have already filed with the SEC to go public later this year. Pre IPO position is highly sought after with large instiutonal investors looking to invest heavily in the primary market.
